Environment

Environment There are a number of reasons why more people are considering aluminium framing systems as the environmentally sustainable choice for their next project:

  • Increased Energy Efficiency

The bulk of heat gain or loss occurs though the glazing system. The most efficient way to reduce this gain or loss is achieved by optimising solar heat gain and incorporating double glazing in the aluminium window and door systems. Read More

  • Recycling

Aluminium is 100% recyclable. Whilst Lidco's framing systems are manufactured with 100% first grade aluminium, at the end of the building's life 100% of this aluminium can be recycled for other uses.

  • No Deforestation

Aluminium is originally sourced as bauxite, a significant worldwide resource representing 8% of the Earth's crust. Bauxite deposits by their nature, location and geological formation are such that minimal or no deforestation is required in its extraction.

  • Built to Last

Whilst every glazing system will eventually need to be replaced, aluminium window and door systems last decades longer than wood and vinyl windows. An aluminium window, door or framing system provides a better long term return on your investment.

  • Less Toxic Waste

Aluminium in the event of a fire, heaven forbid, will not release toxic gases into the Earth's atmosphere. By having your window or door system painted or anodised, any future toxic waste generation is avoided as no further treatments other than minimal maintenance and care is required.

Energy Efficiency

Energy Efficiency Lidco fully supports community trends towards a sustainable environment. Within the building industry there are many important building guidelines, energy rating systems and standards that have been developed to promote ecologically sustainable development. Energy efficient window and door systems are a critical part of any building's energy performance and environmental footprint. At Lidco, we have developed an extensive range of aluminium windows, doors, louvres, shopfront and curtain walling systems all offering increased energy efficiency for your building project.

In virtually every building the majority of heat gain or loss occurs though the glazing system. The most cost efficient way to reduce this heat gain or loss is by the optimum use of solar heat gain and double glazing. The Thermaview™, Pinnacle™, Emporia™ and some Lifestyle™ ranges provide for double glazing options. Furthermore sun protection louvre systems are also available for optimising solar heat gain. Chosing the right Lidco product means that energy performance can be achieved without compromising architectural style and straining the budget.

All Lidco residential windows and doors have been energy rated by WERS, the independent industry and Governmant approved body responsible for rating Australian windows and doors. The thermal efficiency of each Lidco System is included in each Product Sheet and can be viewed under each Lidco System. Please refer to the Product Selector page to start your search.
